Katana Sol is a Seattle-based interdisciplinary artist, designer, musician, and educator working across public art, illustration, textiles, natural dye, immersive installation, sound, animation, and community-engaged art.

With a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design, Sol approaches creative practice as a form of world-building: a way to translate memory, culture, ecology, imagination, and lived experience into tangible environments, images, objects, and sound.

Their work moves between individual studio practice and collective creation. Across murals, installations, workshops, music, and participatory projects, Sol is interested in the ways art can hold cultural memory, create opportunities for reflection and connection, and help people imagine alternative futures.

Sol’s work has been presented and supported by organizations including Jack Straw Cultural Center, Burke Museum, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Public Library, 4Culture, Shunpike, Wa Na Wari, Friends of Waterfront Park, Creative Justice, The Rhapsody Project, and Northwest Folklife.

Their interdisciplinary studio practice, Entangled Oceans, encompasses visual art, design, public art, education, music, publishing, and collaborative creative projects.
